Take it from me; men certainly don't think that rape is okay. They condemn rape as much as any women would do. So why do men rape? Why are stories of men raping women all over the place? What about the staggering statistics that over 200,000 women are raped every year?

To answer that question in an apt manner let me take you to another example. Take theft for that matter. Does anyone like theft? Be it a man or woman, we all hate theft equally. We all condemn it. But thefts do happen. And they are committed not only by men, but also by women. So does that mean men like the act of theft or women like the act of theft? It certainly does not. People become thieves because of circumstances. They steal when they get the opportunity. Did you know that even thieves have their own set of policies about whom to rob and whom not to? But let's not go into that and get back to the main topic. What do men think about rape?

The point of the matter is that when it comes to rape a similar ideology applies. It is true that some men rape, but there are many other things to look at other than the rape itself. Like for instance, was it really rape or molestation/sexual assault? What made the guy rape the girl? What was the mental condition of the guy? Was he mentally stable? Or the situation that lead to the rape from being committed.

Why Do Rapes Happen?

There are a hundred theories on why rapes happen. Here are some points to consider.

1.) Drug or alcohol abuse leading to the man loosing his senses

2.) Ill feelings for the concerned person (A sense of revenge)

3.) Mental unstability because of any other reason

It's a fact that men are more active sexually than women. But let me stress once again that no man in his right frame of mind would even think of raping a woman. It's a disgusting and horrendous act and we all agree to that. Rapes happen because of the combination of one or more of the above stated reasons. If you consider the flip side of the story, Women who dress provocatively (expose a lot of skin) or go to late night parties without any male protection are asking for trouble. I know this is completely unfair and women should be allowed to get anywhere, anytime, wearing anything they like. But the sad reality is that men are physically powerful and there are some men out there who are not very stable mentally. Unstable cause they could be on drugs, or high on alcohol or anything else for that matter. And they are on drugs or alcohol cause life has not been very good to them. These people are looking for some outlet to vent their frustrations and women become their target.

To conclude, no man with a stable mind would think that rape is okay. And given the above reasons, the best way you can protect yourself is by staying safe. It is just like how we all protect our homes from thieves by making use of all those latest electronic gadgets.
