Do Guys Like Talking Over the Phone?

They don’t and I hope the point is well taken.

It’s a fact that guys hate talking over the phone for long. Most of us like short conversations when it’s on phone. There can be certain exceptions to the norm, but most of the guys find it boring to talk without a face in sight. Moreover there is a lot pressure to have a conversation going else there is always an awkward silence to face.

It’s different at the start of the relationship

During the start of the relationship there are several hours of talk over phone for sure, that’s because the guy is more interested in ensuring the girl does not find him rude and initially that’s the only way to communicate if you are not dating much. When the relationship progresses the number of hours over the phone reduces. This is not a bad thing at all. It just means that now there are better ways of communicating with each other (like hugging, kissing and talking face to face while you are in his arms for example). Some girls complain about the fact that their boyfriend does not talk over the phone as much as he used to before. Of course he is not and you don’t need to feel bad about it at all.

Most of the guys like their silence as opposed to girls who like talking

There is a small rift as far as personalities are concerned. The girl usually is all bubbly and while to talk her day out but the guy would rather just sit and have a glass of beer with his cigarette. This might be the scenario is most marriages. This does not mean the guy does not love his wife like he used to when they were dating. I am not sure how to put this but guys like their silence. It’s almost like a natural self to them. In fact a lot of guys appreciate a girl who understands this and does not sulk about the fact that he is not interested in talking to her because its not that at all. There would be times when the guy is all excited and wants to talk a lot, but there will also be times when he just wants sit and watch the fire (blame it on our primitive forefathers but that’s how we are).

When you are sitting face to face even if you don’t talk its okay

It’s okay because you can just be with each other but while you are on phone it’s not the same case. Being on phone demands that you keep talking else you just face the white noise which is not very comforting. The girl feels that guy is not interested in talking and the guy is just sitting out there trying to search for something to talk about or just wants to keep the phone down without sounding rude. It has nothing to do with love at all its just the way guys are, we are not comfortable using our mouths so much, we like to see and touch more and that’s a fact. Non verbal communication plays a huge role in really good relationships. Often silence can be more of a support than any word of advice it can be truer for a guy.

Don’t feel offended or hurt because your guy does not talk much over the phone

In fact if you get upset it would just pressurize him to not be his natural self and try to make small talk and stuff which would just turn out to be ridiculous. In fact guys end up talking stupid whenever they talk too much, have you noticed? We are better off maintaining our silent selves; girls of course are better conversation makers. What I liked about my girlfriend is the fact that she used to talk a lot over phone while allowing me to say my ‘yeah’ and ‘umm’ during the gaps; that was comfortable enough. There have been times when I used to drift into a thought cycle of my own while she was talking, its difficult to maintain concentration when there is no face in front of you or when you are staring at the ceiling lying on your bed with a phone sticking to one end of your ear. Moreover when you spend so much time together there is hardly much to talk about. She knows almost everything I do but it’s amazing to a guy how girls always find something to talk about.
